Luca Scacchetti

Luca Scacchetti, Milan 1952-2015. In 1975 he graduated in architecture from Milan Politecnico.

He carried out teaching work at various institutions, from Milan Politecnico to the Istituto Europeo di Design and the Accademia di Brera in Milan. From 1990 to 1995 he was director of the department of architecture at the Istituto Europeo di Design.

He wrote essays and articles on various topics concerning the history of architecture, the methodology of architectural design and the relationship between the latter and industrial design.

He also took part in numerous conventions and conferences in Italy and the rest of Europe, the Middle East, East Asia and the United States. In 1978 he founded the Luca Scacchetti firm of architects, which collaborated with other architects, urban planners, historians, structural engineers and designers. He designed and created works in Italy and in various other countries, from Japan to Spain, Greece to China, Kazakhstan and France, varying his themes from the urban scale to public and private buildings, hotels, building and interior renovations. In China, he designed and created a new district, PJ South – Shanghai, for the 2010 Shanghai International Expo.

He was also involved in design, working with numerous important Italian and other European companies in the area of furniture, lighting and objects, acting as consultant and art director for some of them. His works have been published in the most important magazines in the field.
