Marenzio

19941
A design inspired by the chasuble that "St. Philip" wears in a late 16th century wooden sculpture. This type of decoration was formed from various “applications" of fabrics, often in contrasting colours, consisting of a vertical ascent of acanthus leaves, volutes and flowers to create "grotesque" ornamentation whose forms echo that found in the marble and stucco work of many 16th century interiors.
